Petar Segrt is replacing Slaven Skeledzicas the Afghanistan National Football Team's new coach.  Segrt will take the lead in Afghanistan's next 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Cambodia in Takhti Stadium, Tehran, Iran on 12th November. Segrtis a Croatian-born German coach and former football player. He currently works as head coach of Bosnia and Herzegovina's Premier League club NK Zvijezda Gradačac. Skeledzic’s short-lived tenure will end as the Afghanistan National Team coach since February this year.

Petar Segrt holds the prestigious UEFA Pro License. He graduated for UEFA 'B' Coaching License in November, 1993 in Ruit, Germany, for UEFA 'A' Coaching License in July, 1995 in Hennef, Germany, and for UEFA Pro License graduated in October, 2001 in Koln, Germany.

In 2006, Segrt started working as part of Georgia A-national team Coaching team together with Klaus Toppmöller. Between 2006-2008 he also served  as head coach of Georgia U21 national team where in a very short time he developed more than 18 players who are still playing for Georgia A-national team.
