Women's football has become huge in recent years and peaked during this year's Women World Cup held in Canada. Women around the world are now more willing, excited, and enthusiastic to showcase their football skills and talents.

Despite many challenges for Afghan women in sports here in Afghanistan, RAPL remains dedicated to promoting football and encouraging boys and girls around the country to focus on their education, physical health and future.

In 2014, RAPL undertook a groundbreaking initiative to organize the first women's football tournament. It was the first of its kind here in Afghanistan. Four teams from Kabul, Bamyan, Balkh, and Herat province took part in this historic event. In the final Kabul defeated Bamyan 5-1 to claim the first Women's Roshan Afghan Premier League championship. The matches were broadcast to a national audience over Tolo and Lemar TV channels, the RAPL's website and social media platforms.

This year, the RAPL plans to put the spotlight again on the four teams from last year, from September 26th to  October 2nd. The event will be broadcasted live on TOLO TV and Lemar TV. Additionally, the RAPL website and social mediachannels will also cover these matches. The tournament will take place in the AFF Stadium and will be strictly open to only women and families to attend and cheer-on their favorite teams.

All of the group stage matches will start at 4:00 pm this season. The matches will broadcast live on TOLO TV,Lemar TV ,Arman FM ,and Arakozai FM.  It will also be watchable on the RAPL YouTube page (www.youtube.com/afghanpremierleague)
