Afghanistan's national football team went up against their regional rivals Pakistan in a friendly match last weekend. The last time these two sides faced each other, Afghanistan routed Pakistan 3-0 in August 2013 in Kabul.

The Pakistani's had home field advantage in this one as the match took place in Punjab Stadium in Lahore, Pakistan.

The first goal of the game was scored by Pakistan's Mohammad Riaz in the 18th minute giving them the lead. Afghanistan's Amiruddin Sharifi leveled the score early in the second half, and the match remained tied for many minutes thereafter. Afghanistan was playing a more attacking style of football than Pakistan but could not take full advantage of their chances at goal.

Finally in the 88th minute Pakistan's Sadullah scored the game winning goal on a header off of a free kick near the box. Afghanistan's defense looked like it was caught off guard as they were unable to get a body on Sadullah, who came racing in for the score. The game ended 2-1 in favor of the home team.
