The beautiful city of Fayzabad in Badakhshan province hosted the 4-day RAPL Regional Tournament (Green Field) for recruiting Mawjhai Amu’s preliminary squad from June 4th to June 7th. Four teams of the northeast region: Badakhshan, Kunduz, Takhar, and Baghlan participated in this exciting event.
After a thrilling round of matches among the four teams, Kunduz claimed the championship title of the tournament, while Mohammad Zaki from Takhar claimed Man of the Tournament award with his splendid performance in three games that he played for Takhar.
This year, FIFA and AFC licensed RAPL Coach from Tajikistan, Boir Igamberdiev and high ranking AFF officials have recruited 12 new players for Mawjhai Amu. These players will be joining forces with Amu’s returning super stars: Masoud Qarizad, Mahboob Kakar, Qismat Ahmadi, and Hezbullah Dashti to advance to the championship round of the 2016 RAPL Main Event. Qismat Ahmadi is also one of the new recruits in Afghanistan’s national team.
Last year, Amu advanced through to the semifinals for the first time in their history and was awarded the 2015 RAPL Fair-Play award.
