The Afghanistan Football Federation (AFF) stadium hosted the second match of Afghan Premier League (APL)’s sixth season today, September 08, 2017. De Maiwand Atalan went head to head with Toofan Harirod. Over 5,000 football fans attended the event to support their favorite team.
Utilizing a close-range free-kick, the west zone representatives, Toofan Harirod’s striker, Hamidullah Karimi, scored an early opener and turned the game on their head inside four first-half minutes. The early goal galvanized the pitch and questioned the ability of Atalan with its well-trained players.
In return, it took few minutes for Maiwand Atalan to crack the result and score the equalizer goal. To double the lead and tackle their opponent, Atalan’s prominent striker, Amrudin Sharifi scored the second goal to assure their ascendency in the first-stoppage time.
All Toofan’s attempts to recover the deficit in the first-half were deterred by Atalan’s defense line and talented goalie, Hamidullah Wakili.
Back to the second-half, Toofan increased the number of strikes and got better in exchanging slick passes. Toofan Harirod’s fans reached fever pitch as Ghulam Nabi netted the equalizing goal on 49 minutes. Toofan continued the second-half with more intent, but soon reverted back when Fardin Hakimi scored the 3rd goal on 52 minutes. Later in 78th minute, Amrudin Sharifi netted the 4th goal to boost the team’s victory hope.
De Miwand Atalan cruised 4-2 over Toofan Harirod with 55% match possession. Amrudin Sharifi was awarded as the Man of Match.
