The 2016 Roshan Afghan Premier League (RAPL), fifth season, was another lively tournament abounds with exhilarating and breathtaking competitions and moments. The RAPL is considered to be an opportunity and platform for young players to demonstrate their football skills so that they can be considered as potential nominees for the national team squad. 

In a press conference on September 5, 2016, Afghanistan Football Federation (AFF) officials, Mr. Keramudin Karim, the president of AFF; Mohammad Yusuf Kargar, Deputy Technical Director of AFF; and Sayed Ali Reza Agazada, AFF Secretary General briefed the media on the selection of the best players of fifth season for the national team. The selection was conducted by a professional commission appointed by the AFF. All the selectees will be trained and mentored by licensed-Afghan coaches.

To strengthen the national team‘s performance, the commission have chosen the following 2016 RAPL players: 

Amrudin Sharifi of Shaheen Asmayee

Aimal Gariwal of Oqaban Hindukosh 

Fardin Hakimi of Toofan Harirod
