MobyGroup and the Roshan Afghan Premier League (RAPL) are proud to be awarded the 2016 Corporate Social Responsibility Initiative of the Year Award at the Peace and Sport Forum held in Monaco, France. The award is presented to a company that uses its impact on society to take responsibility and leadership to promote peace and social awareness by using sports. MobyGroup is one of the leading integrated media and communications groups in the region operating over 17 businesses in the areas of television, digital, content production, radio, sports, and strategic communications.

Shafic Gawhari, RAPL Commissioner and Managing Director for MobyGroup in Afghanistan, was present at the Awards Ceremony to receive the award. He stated “Afghanistan has one of the youngest populations in the world, and through sporting initiatives such as the Afghan Premier League, we hope to reinforce the values of tolerance, respect, and inclusivity among the youth”.

The RAPL has just completed its 5th season.

With the support of its partners in the Afghanistan Football Federation (AFF), Afghanistan’s controlling body for Football in the country, the Afghan Premier League was established in 2012. Prior to the launch of the first season, Roshan, Afghanistan’s leading total communications provider became the exclusive official Title sponsor of the league. In order for the league to be the stimulus for social change that MobyGroup envisioned it to be, it had to be sustainable and accessible.

The RAPL has the most extensive coverage ever given to a sports competition in Afghanistan. All matches are broadcast live on TOLO TV and Lemar TV, as well as on radio stations Arman FM and Arakozia FM. Furthermore, all matches are available for streaming live on YouTube and can be followed on social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Google+) and on the RAPL website (www.AfghanPremierLeague.com).
