About the team

Mawjhai Amu represents the north-eastern of Afghanistan. Amu Darya or the Amu River, historically known by its Latin name, Oxus, is a major river in Central Asia which stretches from the footsteps of Pamir mountains to the Aral Sea. Amu River forms part of Afghanistan’s northern border with Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, and Turkmenistan. Amu basins are the main sources of irrigation in northern Afghanistan to sustain the agriculture. 

Mawjhai Amu performed satisfactory in the 2016 APL and preserved to play in the semi-finals for the second consecutive year. This year’s draw put the team in Group “B”. Securing six points in the group stage, Amu competed with De Maiwand Atalan in the semi-finals. Later, Amu was defeated by Simorgh Alborz and came fourth in the 2016 APL. 

Mawjhai Amu won the fourth place award in the 2015 APL too.
