About the team
The Spinghar Mountains, or the White Mountains, are the eastern part of the Hindukosh mountain range which straddle Afghanistan and Pakistan.
They peak at over 4,500m and some parts are covered in snow year round. Bazan means hawks, which are common in many parts of Afghanistan, especially in the colder mountainous climates.
They are great birds of prey and have traditionally been used in falconry in the region. Their small body and short wings allow them to be adept in maneuvering within forests or wooded areas, unlike their larger cousins the falcons and eagles.
This year De Spinghar Bazan were able to pull off two wins and one draw in the group stage to make it to the semifinals. They defeated De Maiwand Atalan 4-2 in a penalty shootout and came through to the championship round.
They etched their name on the 2015 APL Cup, dethroning the defending champions Shaheen Asmayee, with 4-3 score in a thrilling penalty shootout.
