Shaheen Asmayee, the 2016 Roshan Afghan Premier League (RAPL) champions, will compete in the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Cup 2017 beginning in January. Shaheen’s participation has been confirmed by the Afghan Football Federation (AFF).

The AFC Cup is an annual international football competition among regional football clubs who are members of the AFC.

It is the first time any team from RAPL has participated at this level. This event has been highly admired by Afghan football fans. The team will play Khosilot, a Tajik team and football club, both in first and second leg, based on information released by AFF. The first leg is expected to kick-off on January 31, 2017 and the second on February 07, 2017. AFF are seeking possibilities to hold Shaheen’s home game; however, no further details have been released yet.

The AFC Cup 2017 has two playoff rounds. If Shaheen wins the first Playoff they will be set up again in a playoff match against the winner of Kyrgyzstan and Turkmenistan.

Shaheen Asmayee represents capital Kabul and has had outstanding performance during RAPL seasons. 2016 was the third time that Shaheen etched its name on the championship cup.
