After the 10-day regional training camps, initiated by Afghan Premier League (APL) this year to boost the teams ‘performance and abilities for the main event, all the eight APL teams arrived to Kabul and resume their preparation at Afghanistan Football Federation (AFF) and Ghazi stadiums.

Now, the teams and players will be supervised and trained critically by AFC & FIFA-licensed coaches from Tajikistan and Afghanistan.

The Afghanistan Football Federation (AFF), APL, and MOBY Group are pleased to welcome the eight APL teams to Kabul. This marks the successful completion of the 2017 regional tournaments (Road to 2017 APL) and selection of top 21 players of each zone in their respective APL teams.

APL successfully conducted five seasons in close cooperation with its partners over past five years despite the existing challenges. “APL remains strongly committed to continuing the first professional football league which now has become a symbol of optimism and national unity for talented players and Afghanistan. Everything is set to kick-off the sixth season,” said Zia Aria, the APL deputy commissioner.

The APL sixth season’s opening ceremony and first match will take place on September 07, 2017 at AFF stadium, Kabul.

At least 18.6 million viewers ̶ in the country as well as Afghans around the world ̶ watched the 2016 APL championship match via the APL’s YouTube channel and TOLOT TV live broadcast. Additionally, more than 7,000 spectators attended the final game last year. The statistics surmised to increase in 2017.

The opening ceremony will be broadcast LIVE on TOLO TV, Lemar TV and simulcast on Arman FM, Arakozia FM.
